One Word Sunday

One Word Sunday is hosted by Debbie at Travel With Intent.

2 July: Inclined

There is a sculpture of random words on the rungs of multiple ladders inclining against the window and wall in Metro Hall on King St. W.

If I was so inclined I would see if the word incline was on the sculpture.

LEXIER, MICAH

Consists of 25 custom-made aluminum ladders of various heights. The rungs of each ladder consist of different words that have been waterjet-cut out of a bar of aluminum. Each of the 350 separate rungs is a word selected from the "Synopsis of Categories" section of Roget's Thesaurus. The work merges an image of physical construction (ladders) with the elements of intellectual construction (words).

  1. An interesting idea for a sculpture, even though it's not in my usual "sculpture" vocabulary. Unique choice for the theme.

  2. Ha! A couple of strong interpretations of inclined there! A fascinating sculpture - I have a soft spot for Roget's Thesaurus and could have been there ages reading all those words :)
